Cancer Can't

At a recent presentation to our Foundation Board a Harvard trained Oncologist presented this as an opening statement in his overview of cancer.  It seems worth sharing to show we may have choices in dealing with the shocking words, "You have cancer of ... and ...  your options are."

What Cancer Can't Do

It cannot cripple love
It cannot shatter hope
It cannot corrode faith
It cannot destroy peace
It cannot kill friendship
It cannot suppress memories
It cannot silence courage
It cannot steal eternal life
It cannot conquer the spirit

  1. As I sit next to my husband's bed watching him die, words like the ones included above make me realize that even cancer cannot destroy everything. And regardless of his pain and of those of us who will always love him, it is his kindness and enormous capacity to love what I will carry in my heart forever. Thankd for the blog and wise words as such knowledge is crucial at times like these.

  2. I wish things were different for you. Your relationship sounds so close with your husband. He must be a fantastic guy. My condolences and hope that there's light in your future.

  3. This is an important point: during the time of uncertainty, when we don't know that a given chemical is dangerous nor do we know that it is safe, we should err on the side of caution, treating the chemical as guilty until proven innocent. I discovered that there is a name for this approach: the precautionary principle, and this is of course the core change to the Safe Chemicals Act.
